AppFog Brand Identity Redesign and Development

OVERVIEW

AppFog, a cloud platform based on Cloud Foundry, was acquired by CenturyLink Cloud and required a complete rebrand and migration to CenturyLink Cloud’s platform. As the lead designer on this project, I was responsible for reimagining the brand identity and ensuring a seamless user experience across both digital and physical touchpoints. This included everything from logo design and UX strategy to front-end development and customer education.

PROCESS

One of my first tasks was redesigning the AppFog logo so it aligned with CenturyLink Cloud’s brand system while retaining AppFog’s distinctive identity. This new visual mark was then extended across multiple applications, including the website landing page, the product control panel, and various branded assets such as t-shirts, tote bags, and stickers.

Alongside the branding work, I led the UX design for the new landing page, focusing on presenting AppFog’s value proposition with clarity and simplicity. To bring these designs to life, I built the front-end using Bootstrap and incorporated lightweight SVG animations that added motion without compromising performance. I also collaborated closely with developers to ensure the new interface integrated smoothly within CenturyLink Cloud’s platform.

Beyond visual and UX design, I took ownership of customer education. I produced and edited a series of how-to video tutorials that guided users through the process of deploying applications on AppFog. These videos were crafted with both technical accuracy and accessibility in mind, ensuring developers of all levels could onboard quickly and with confidence.

RESULTS

The project successfully transitioned AppFog under the CenturyLink Cloud brand, strengthening user trust during the change. The redesigned landing page clarified the product’s positioning and contributed to an increase in new customer sign-ups after launch. The how-to videos provided clear onboarding guidance, which helped reduce customer support requests and accelerated the adoption process. Finally, the updated branding created a consistent experience across all platforms, from the website to promotional swag, reinforcing AppFog’s presence within CenturyLink Cloud’s larger ecosystem.
